Helpful hints

For greatest accuracy, measure with your rods in place. It is recommended that you place your rod 4 inches above the window glass so that the hooks and pleats cannot be seen from outside Always use a yardstick or metal measuring tape, not a cloth tape when measuring.

Draperies/Curtains

Width

Width

For all Drapery products there are only two width measurements you need:

Rod Width –The total width of rod measured from one end bracket to the other, expressed in inches.

Rod Return – The measurement from the front of the rod back to the wall.

For Pinch Pleat Pair of Draperies:

  1. Measure Rod Width.
  2. Measure and add your two Rod Returns to the Rod Width. Standard is 4 inches on each side, if this is the case for your rod you would add 8 inches.
  3. Add 4 inches for the drapery overlap where they come together when they are closed.
  4. Total the above 3 numbers for Finished Width.

For Pole Pocket, Rod Pocket and Door Panels:

  1. Measure Rod Width
  2. Measure and add your two Rod Returns (if any) to the Rod Width. Standard is 4 inches on each side, if this is the case for your rod you would add 8 inches.
  3. For correct fullness take the total and multiply it by:
    1. For thermal backed fabrics: multiply by 2.
    2. For average weight fabrics: multiply by 2.5.
    3. For sheers and very light weight fabrics: multiply by 3

Length

Length

For Pinch Pleat Draperies on Traverse Rods:

Measure from the top of the rod to the desired length and ADD 1 inch to conceal the rod.

For Pinch Pleat Draperies on pole with rings:

Measure from the bottom of the rod to the desired length.

For Pole Pocket and Rod Pocket Draperies:

Measure from the top of the rod to the desired end length. ADD 1 inch (average) to this measurement for the header.

For Door Panel:

Measure the length between the top rod and the bottom of the lower rod. ADD 2 inches(average) to the length for the headers at the top and bottom

For Tiers/Cafe Curtains:

Tier curtains are usually used to cover the lower half of your windows, measure from where you'd like the bottom tier to begin (typically the middle of the window or slightly higher)to the desired length.

Mini Blinds and Roller Shades

Blinds and Shades

Inside Mount

Measure the width (A in image) of opening at top, middle and bottom of your window opening. Use the smallest measurement when ordering. The factory has already deducted 1/2 inch (1/4 inch on each side) to insure proper fit with the brackets. Measure the height (B in image) of the opening on left, center and right, use the smallest measurement when ordering

Outside mount

Measure the exact width and height of the area to be covered and provide the exact dimensions required. (It is recommended that blinds overlap the window at least 1.5 inches on each side and for length (D in image), add 3-4” above the frame and 2” below the frame.) If you already have brackets mounted, be sure that you measure form the outside edge to include the brackets(C in image). Do not measure inside the brackets or your blind width will be to short. Be sure that when you mount your brackets that they are beyond the casing and clear any obstructions (i.e. window cranks, trim work, ect.)
